Labour is on the brink, and why nothing will change
Make no mistake this result is a defeat for the government and not a victory for the SNP however there is no denying the sound job they are doing in Holyrood. There unique blend of Democratic Socialism with a nationalistic flavour really plays to Scottish voters who by all account are fed up of the Labour government.
Following the SNPs victory of Glasgow East I feel although the electorate have made their opinions clear on Gordon Brown nothing will change. The SNP candidate John Mason Ran a campaign on “sending a message to Westminster” well now the electorate have done that what next for Labour?
In the last two by-elections Labour have decided to fight, they have run extremely negative and at times nasty campaigns against the opposition, preaching the politics of hate, when you are hated does not work. It detracts from the core ideals of the Labour party of equality and inclusion. Then we are forgetting that Gordon Brown is not the elected PM and that joined with tough times in the economy means that the electorate are desperate to take a swing at Brown and at the very least tell him to get his act together.
However despite the biggest wakeup call Labour will ever receive I don’t think anything will change, I believe GB will continue to diver, instead of making rock steady decisions such as bringing the troops home from Iraq and using the money saved as tax relief. Until Brown realises that the everyday electorate are not just finding things hard in the pocket but are now finding it hard to keep their heads above water.
I believe that Browns administration will bully and threaten anyone in the Labour party who speaks out against it. I believe the current administration will continue to show contempt for the very people to who donate to the party and allow it to run at grass roots level. I believe that we will see the select through at the top attempt to continue and dictate the future of this nation and the electorate will not have it.
The Labour party has a unique opportunity to change the course of Britain forever, however if Labour where to take a swing of 13,000 seats in every safe ward it would mean almost certain failure of the party both politically and financially.
